The MCAT is an exam that students who wish to study medicine in the United States take. You can think of the MCAT as the same as the SAT, but specifically for American medical schools. Students usually take it in their third or fourth year of undergraduate education, but you are free to take it at any other time. The MCAT is known to be quite challenging, so students begin their preparations several months early and take it two or three times.
