Great question. To obtain an IB diploma, you must first enroll in a secondary school which offers the international baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. For instance, the United World College (UWC) schools offer the IB curriculum. In general, it takes two years to complete the IB curriculum and take the IB exams - and thereafter get awarded the IB diploma. It is common for many African students to join an IB school after or just before they complete secondary school studies that follow a national curriculum. An IB curriculum is rigorous and widely respected around the world; obtaining the IB diploma means a student is well-prepared for the challenging college classes.
