The age requirement for a student loan is determine by the lender. Typically, in the US and Canada, the 18 is the minimum to apply on your own (i.e. without a cosigner or guarantor). However, some lenders will allow you to apply at age 17 IF you have a cosigner (or guarantor). You need to check with the particular lender before applying.
You may also use 8B's student loan marketplace where you can complete a short pre-qualification form, and then you would see all eligible student loan options for you after submitting the form. The options are tailored to your profile, so it will take into account the age minimum. To visit the marketplace, go to the Financing tab at the top > Compare Loans > complete the form.
