Most institutions offer deferred enrollment. For example, if you are unable to participate in the August/September course, you can apply to transfer to a course that starts in January of the following year. Deferrals for longer periods are at the discretion of the institution. Getting into college or university is an exciting acknowledgment of all the hard work you've put in. However, you have the option of deferring acceptance. A deferral delays enrollment by up to one year while guaranteeing entry into the course for the following year.
