However, the negative developments in the embassy, like that of inability to get visa appointment is implying that one should be prepared to use a long period of time to process admission

It depends on the school you are applying to, most schools give application deadlines, so the earlier you submit your application the better. There are also priority deadlines that some schools may offer, meaning that If you submit your application within the priority deadline, your application will be reviewed earlier than other applications.
